Michael Grandage is an award winning British theatre director and producer.
He is Artistic Director of the Michael Grandage Company, a London-based production company set up with James Bierman to produce work in theatre, film and television. They are currently producing five plays in the West End with over 100,000 tickets at £10. The work includes Private On Parade by Peter Nichols with Simon Russell Beale, Peter and Alice, a new play by John Logan with Judi Dench and Ben Whishaw, The Cripple of Inishman by Martin McDonagh with Daniel Radcliffe and two Shakespere’s; A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Sheridan Smith and David Williams followed by Jude Law as Henry V.
He was Artistic Director of the Donmar Warehouse from 2002 to 2012 where his work included a sell-out season of work at affordable prices at the Wyndham’s Theatre with Kenneth Branagh, Derek Jacobi, Judi Dench and Jude Law. He won the Tony Award for his production of Red. Other work at the Donmar included The Chalk Garden, Othello, Frost/Nixon, The Wild Duck, Grand Hotel, Caligula, Merrily We Roll Along, and Passion Play.
Michael was also the Artistic Director of Sheffield Theatres from 1999 – 2005 where his work there included Don Carlos (also Gielgud Theatre, London).
